Let’s suppose that you’re remodeling a kitchen for a client. Maybe you’re making a video for your YouTube channel that you wish to attract more subscribers on.

The best way to show your remodeling process

The video not only helps the clients to understand your craftsmanship but also helps your business grow. Moreover, time-lapse is the best way to turn your experience into a short video.

[TLC120 FAQ] Recording Settings

Learn how to setup the TLC120 properly before you hit the record button.

TLC120 is the best process recorder. It allows you to setup different settings according to where you are shooting. Whether you are in your studio, create on a street, or in the night, we provide 3 different settings to help you be more creative.

Before you start

Time lapse is all about “Time Interval” and “Frame Rate”. These are the 2 main settings are what will determine the speed of our final video.

  • Time Interval (Capture Rate):
    • This is how often the camera takes a picture. For example, if it is set at an interval of 5 seconds, the camera takes a picture every 5 seconds. The longer the interval, the faster the apparent motion of the elements in the movie, and vice versa.

Function: recording time/time interval = total frames

  • Frame Rate:  Frame rate can also be modified after recording (whereas time interval cannot). It determines the speed the frames are played back. Each frame represents a picture. The higher the frame rate, the quicker the video will play.
  • Time Lapse Video Length Calculator (See example below)

In this case, your recording time is 2 hours, which is 7200 seconds, divided by your capture rate, which is 5 seconds, you will get 1440, which is your total frames. Finally, 1440 divided by 20, which is frame rate per second, you will get 72, which is your video length.

Brinno’s Indoor Cherry Blossoms In Time Lapse

38388_japan

Every spring, millions of tourists flock to Japan to witness the iconic cherry blossoms, or Sakura as they are known. Hanami is an annual Japanese celebration of the fleeting beauty of flowers, in particular, the stunning splendor of the Sakura.  Hanami is all about appreciating the simple pleasure of stopping to view the beautiful spring cherry blossoms.

under-sakura

Each year, thousands of people gather at Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden in Tokyo, to picnic and celebrate under blooming cherry blossom trees.

In honor of this delightful tradition, Brinno has created a miniaturized celebration of Hanami.  Set in front of iconic Mt. Fuji, we used miniature “magic Sakura trees”, cardboard cutouts that “flower” crystals to represent the majestic Sakura tree. The cute animal characters signify a crowd gathering around the trees in appreciation of the flowering trees. Brinno documented the pink magic tree’s twelve hours of growth with their time lapse cameras, TLC120 and TLC200Pro, to show the interesting experiment in less than a minute.

Content Creator Spotlight: Colorado Photographer Discovers Brinno Cameras!

When we first noticed photographer Michael Lohr it was through a series of videos he had created as a user of Brinno Cameras.

It was immediately clear that there was something special about the content he was creating.

Smart, imaginative and the man really had a way with clouds (his nick name is now the cloud whisperer.)

Fast forward to a couple of years later and we have some of the most interesting content ever created with our cameras.  He has combined time-lapse, stop motion video, created awesome content with the ART200 Panlapse Base, made construction videos, travel clips with the TLC120 and even built a barn.

There is nothing this man can’t do (and hasn’t tried) with our cameras. He even was invited by The Weather Network to storm chase with their team for a two week stretch!

It seems fitting that our Content Creator Spotlight this month showcases the talents of Michael Lohr.

1) What is the appeal of time-lapse for you and your clients?
A time-lapse is an interesting, fast way to see a change in something, in real time either in construction or movement. In modern cities and in modern time things happen quickly. Modern people like to see  what they want to see. They don’t have the time or patience to see long videos. In a time-lapse you can see a building being constructed, the growth of a plant or flower, the movement of the clouds,  any process that takes hours you can see it in minutes. Time-lapse is also useful in editing or transition in a video.
